Since 2000, Canada has recognized November 22 as National Housing Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about housing and homelessness. It is a time to recognize the critical need for collective action to ensure all Canadians have access to a safe and affordable place to call home. National Housing Day also calls on the entire housing sector to unite in developing impactful solutions. This includes governments, financial organizations, developers, communities, Indigenous and other partners coming together to make intentional changes that address the housing needs of all Canadians.
I had the honour and privilege to be at a National Housing Day event in Edmonton where Minister Jason Nixon spoke of the growing challenges in our province associated with housing and the initiatives that the Government of Alberta is implementing to address these issues.
